Dominic Calvert-Lewin has become the latest United scholar to make the temporary switch into non-league to further his development by playing first-team football.
The 17-year-old, who was a unused substitute in last season's FA Cup tie against Aston Villa, has joined Vanarama Conference North outfit Stalybridge Celtic on a youth-loan.
The versatile performer, who has been featured for both the U18s and U21s this season, could make his Celtic debut against Hyde on Boxing Day.
Calvert-Lewin joins a host of other scholars currently out gaining work experience at local non-league clubs, including Jake Eastwood and Ioan Evans (Sheffield FC), Kler Heh and MJ Kedman (Stocksbridge Park Steels), Jake Wright (Hallam FC) and Daniel Cockerline (Grantham Town).
All the aforementioned players are available for their respective teams over the festive period and into the New Year.
