Loan update on scholars

19 December 2014

Versatile defender MJ Kedman has become the latest youngster to move to a local non-league club on work experience, joining team-mate Kler Heh at Stocksbridge Park Steels.

Meanwhile, several of United's other scholars already out gaining experience continue to impress whilst furthering their development with regular first-team football at non-league level.

Striker Daniel Cockerline scored two goals last Saturday as Grantham Town beaten Curzon Ashton, who are in second place in the Northern Premier League, 4-2 away from home.

Midfielder Heh has played consecutive 90 minutes as Stocksbridge drew 0-0 with Chasetown, before finishing 1-1 against Kidsgrove, whilst winger CJ Hamilton played an hour for Mickleover Sports against the latter named opposition.

Unfortunately the wet weather put pay to games involving Hallam FC and Sheffield FC last weekend, although defender Ioan Evans played in the Club's Sheffield and Hallamshire cup loss to Athersley Recreation on Tuesday. The game was decided on penalties after a 2-2 draw in 90 minutes.

All the aforementioned youngsters are likely to be in action at the weekend weather permitting, including Kedman, as the Park Steels prepare to face Rainworth MWFC.

Internationally, midfielder Graham Kelly has played back-to-back 90 minutes for the Republic of Ireland U18s this week in defeats against Portugal, although the feedback from the Irish camp has been positive and Kelly was the only player in the squad to complete both games.
