Nigel Clough is hopeful Chris O'Grady will be able to make his United debut against the MK Dons in Tuesday's re-arranged Sky Bet League One clash at Bramall Lane.
O'Grady missed out against Notts County with a minor calf problem, but is expected to shake to niggle off, although the Blades boss has fitness worries over Craig Alcock and James Wallace, both of whom also missed Friday's stalemate.
Looking ahead of the Gaffer remarked: "Craig has a problem with his back and James is still struggling a bit after coming off against Doncaster last month, but Chris should be fine for Tuesday, having missed out with a slight calf problem that he picked up at the beginning of the week at Brighton.
"Chris was close on Friday night, but after a whirlwind 24 hours it just wasn't worth risking his for 70 minutes when we could have then been missing him for a number of weeks."
Should O'Grady prove his fitness in time for the midweek date against Karl Robinson's Dons, then Clough admits he would be happy with the striking options at his disposal.
He added: "We now have competition up front and that is what we want, we didn't get the ball in and around Michael Higdon enough at times against Notts County, although Marc McNulty looked bright when he came on, so with Chris coming into the reckoning too we are pleased to have different types of strikers available."
