Nigel Clough is confident his newest recruit will soon become a fans' favourite with the Bramall Lane crowd.
Striker Michael Higdon, formerly of Motherwell and NEC Nijmegen in Scotland and Holland respectively, put pen to paper on a two-year contract with United on Monday, after the Blades agreed to pay NEC an undisclosed fee for his services - Clough was delighted to see the deal completed.
Speaking of the former Crewe Alexandra marksman, the Gaffer remarked: "We believe Michael is the right striker for us and that is why we have been patient all summer.
"He was always at the top of a very long list of possible strikers, but once we spoke to him and was aware of his situation with NEC, we were determined to bring him to Bramall Lane.
"His style and more importantly goals, his record in the last four or five seasons is phenomenal, will certainly adhere him to our fans, but to us he is much more than a goalscorer.
"Michael can hold the ball up and be the focal point of our attacking play, bring our other attacking threats into play on a consistent basis.
"There aren't many strikers of his calibre out there, so we are delighted, although we have had to wait most of pre-season to finally get his signature.
