Productive trip for youngsters

11 August 2014

Another group of youngsters from United's Academy have served the Club with pride and distinction recently.

The U12s and U14s represented the Blades at Oakham School Festival in Leicestershire and performed admirably.

United came up against some quality teams throughout the tour, the opposition included Aberdeen, Moss-To-Takt (of Norway), Derby County, MK Dons, Peterborough United, Bristol Rovers and Cambridge United.

The U14s, who included a number of U13s players, remained undefeated throughout their schedule, whilst the younger group enjoyed a productive stay in the East Midlands.

Academy Manager Nick Cox remarked: "Firstly, we would like to thank Oakham School for their tremendous hospitality.

"The playing facilities were tremendous and all of the players, in both age groups had a memorable experience.

"We have one more UK based tour which departs at the end of August for our Foundation Phase (U9-U11) and that will mean every group under the Academy umbrella will have had a residential experience during pre-season."
