Nigel Clough hopes Tuesday's 'memorable' Capital One Cup success at West Ham United gives the Blades Sky Bet League One campaign further momentum in the weeks ahead.
Speaking in the aftermath of the epic 5-4 penalty shootout success at Upton Park, Clough was delighted for his playing staff and more importantly the fans who had travelled to the capital in large numbers.
The Gaffer remarked: "We hope this is the start of something special again, it was nice for the new players to experience such a night and it brought it all back for the lads that were here last season.
"It was lovely to see our supporters, over a thousand had gone down, having another memorable night.
"They were outnumbered by over 28,000, but you wouldn't have known it with the noise our lot generated."
Several individuals impressed in a terrific team performance against top-flight opposition with the Blades boss reserving special praise for a handful players:
"Chris Basham worked tirelessly and he must have covered every blade of grass on the pitch and Mark McNulty did an excellent job as the lone striker, his touch was very good.
"Jamal Campbell-Ryce is improving with every game and it was fantastic to introduce James Wallace from the bench.
"Mark Howard is in fantastic form at the moment too and again he made a number of crucial saves in open play that took us to penalties."
