United have been informed that former Blade Jeff Bourne has sadly passed away from Motor Neurone disease - the illness had only been diagnosed some nine weeks prior to this death.
Jeff had spells at Burton Albion and Derby County where he made his Football League debut in 1971 against Burnley under the management of Brian Clough. He also played for Crystal Palace before crossing the water to the States to ply his trade.
Harry Haslam signed him for Sheffield United in 1979, one of many players signed during his reign at the Club - the striker appeared 30 times plus one as a sub and scored a very credible 11 goals during that time- Alex Sabella.
His funeral takes place on Saturday and the thoughts of all at Bramall Lane are with the Bourne family at this sad time.
