Setting the tone

16 April 2014

Nigel Clough says relegation-threatened Stevenage should expect no favours when the Blades return to Sky Bet League One action on Friday evening (7.45pm kick-off).

Following Sunday's heroic efforts at Wembley, the Gaffer insists that he will not let standards slip.

Clough believes the last five matches of this term could determine how United kick-off the 2014/15 campaign come the 9th August.

Looking ahead to welcoming Graham Westley's side to Bramall Lane, he remarked: "How you finish one season can set a tone for how you start the next.

"We definitely won't be switching off; that's not going to be allowed to happen. We want to be challenging for promotion next season and, with a few improvements here and there, we believe we're capable of doing that. But the key is to keep on improving the group we have as well.

"We want more big games, more occasions like the one we have just experienced. And, the higher we go, the more of those we are likely to have."
