Michael Doyle is urging the Blades to sign off their Sky Bet League One in style.
United face a trip across the Pennines to face Oldham Athletic on Tuesday night, before a clash against Coventry City at Bramall Lane brings the curtain down on United's campaign on Saturday and the skipper says the aim is maximum points.
Looking ahead, Doyle remarked: "The Gaffer is demanding we finish strongly with next season in mind and the players are determined to enter the summer in high spirits.
"We have had a remarkable second-half of the season, although now with the play-offs out of reach you can't help but think what might have been if we hadn't had started so badly.
"But we have to focus on the positives, what we have acheived in both the league and the FA Cup will give us momentum ahead of returning for pre-season.
"Next season the aim is a top two finish or at the very least the play-offs, we have been so near in the last two seasons prior to this one, so hopefully for everyone connected with the Club it will be a case of fourth time lucky."
On the midweek test against the Latics, the captain added: "It will be another good test for us, Oldham are unbeaten in eight matches and have done well to avoid relegtion, they will no doubt been keen to make that ten unbeaten by the weekend.
"But we are focused on what we want to acheive and we can take plenty of confidence from our comeback at Port Vale last Friday."
