Billy Paynter says he will look back on his loan spell at Bramall Lane with fondness, despite not playing as much as he would have liked.
Speaking ahead of Friday's clash with his first professional club, Port Vale, the striker remarked: "I'm not going to pretend that I don't want to play more. I think any professional footballer in my position would say exactly the same.
"But, on the back of all of that, it's not as if I can knock on the manager's door because the rest of the lads have done so, so well. I'm itching to get involved but I can understand why I've not and can't really have any complaints."
The loanee is looking forward to returning to Vale Park and insists he will be going all out for a win, regardless of whether he starts the game or not.
Paynter added: "Don't get me wrong, I'm loving my time here because the spirit behind the scenes is great. I think recent results definitely reflect that.
"So, if I'm not out there on the pitch or on the teamsheet, then I try and encourage them as much as I can. And I'm absolutely made-up for them after a victory. I really am, but obviously it would be nice to play a part in getting all three points on Friday night."
