Weir focused on Cumbrians

13 September 2013

David Weir insists the Blades will take nothing for granted when they face Carlisle United at Brunton Park on Saturday.

Speaking in the wake of the Cumbrians sacking Greg Abbott, Weir has stressed the importance of United focusing on the task in hand.

He remarked: "Carlisle has just lost their manager so I am sure that will get a reaction from the players, which will make it difficult for us.

"Despite conceding a lot of goals this season, Carlisle have some very good players and on their day they are capable of beating anyone.

"In the Capital One Cup they knocked out Blackburn Rovers, so we head to there wary of the dangers they might offer.

"We will be well equipped come Saturday, like always we have conducted our extensive homework on the opposition, we owe everyone the same respect."

The Gaffer added: "What we have focused on all week though is what we are about.

"It is down to the players to make the right decisions on the field and we have emphasised that on the training pitch.

"We know we need that elusive win and if we keep doing what we believe to be the right things during the week, we give ourselves more chance of being successful at the weekend.

"We have taken the positives from the first-half at Rotherham but now we have to produce a 90 minute performance away from home and hopefully get the three points."
