Weir demands fast start

20 September 2013

David Weir is urging his players to be quick out of the blocks against Preston North End on Saturday

Ahead of the clash with the in-form Lilywhites, the Gaffer said: "We need to be positive and believe we can go out there and win the game. We're hoping to make a good start and kick on from then.

"The lads have got to make good decisions at both ends of the field, we need to be solid defensively and industrious in the offensive half of the pitch.

"We are focusing on one game at a time and at the moment we would love to add three points to give everyone a real lift."

Of the opposition, Weir added: "Preston are a very good team and I have seen first hand recently that they are in top form. They are well organised and difficult to beat.

"They are a big side and will cause teams problems with the formation they adopt but we have to be determined and resolute in our own performance to be successful.

"In Simon Grayson they have a manager who has been there and done it in this division with Huddersfield Town, so he will certainly have them well drilled."
