U18s 4-1 Ipswich - report

30 September 2013

Jake Wright scored a hat-trick as United’s U18s returned to winning ways with a comprehensive victory at the Redtooth Academy.

Joel Coustrain was also on target as the Blades banished the memories of defeats to Crewe and Coventry earlier this month.

The Tractor Boys started the game brightly and enjoyed spells of possession without creating any sights of goal.

Having already come close Wright opened the scoring on the half hour mark, the striker combined with Coustrain before confidently apply the finishing touch.

Before half-time, Coustrain doubled the lead after wrong-footing two Town defenders following good work by Ptak.

After the break Wright quickly added a second after reacting first to a loose ball, before completing his hat-trick in the 54th minute, slotting home under the advancing goalkeeper.

On the hour mark Ipswich netted what proved to be nothing more than a consolation strike, but late on United could have added to the tally with Kedman, Coustrain, Heh and Cockerline all having opportunities.

Blades: Owen, Paling, Ptak, Reed, Scarisbrick, Banton, Dimaio, Lewin (Cockerline 54), Coustrain (Kedman 76), Wright (Heh 59), Whiteman.
Unused: Eastwood, Cheeseman.
