Credit to the players

4 September 2013

David Weir was quick to praise the players for their application in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy success at Scunthorpe United on Tuesday night.

Despite admitting some of his team's shortcomings going forward, Weir is adamant progress is being made on and off the field.

On aspects of the Blades play, Weir commented: "We need to get the balance right offensively and as we all know that is the area of the team that gets the most focus.

"The players have been a credit to themselves in terms of adapting to how I want the team to play.

"They are more than capable, so for me it was just a case of getting them confident and relaxed in possession.

"We are trying to implement our philosophies throughout the club, from top to bottom and it gives me great satisfaction to witness it.

"It has to be a winning style, but at the same time it is pleasant to watch.

"Fans, players and managers all want to win football matches, that is obvious, but we have a plan to achieve that and we are continually working hard to develop and improve."
