Back us, pleads Tony

16 September 2013

Tony McMahon is pleading with Unitedites to keep backing the Blades and boss David Weir.

The experienced right-back says he can understand the frustrations from the terraces but insists the fans can play their part in turning fortunes around.

McMahon said: "Our fans have always turned out in their numbers and I know they'll keep doing that.

"I know they'll be hurting at the moment. But hopefully they'll stick with us as we look to turn things around. Nobody enjoys these results or the fact that things aren't going right.

"But it's not through lack of effort or hard work. Basically we've just got to keep on going and find the right formula.

"We've got the quality here and if we keep working hard - as we are - then we'll also start to get the rub of the green like people have had against us."

The defender added: "We've had a discussion about the situation and everyone has been encouraged to have their say.

"Ultimately we've not been ruthless enough, we haven't taken our chances and we have conceded too many at the other end."
