Terrific energy

30 October 2013

At Wednesday's pre-match press briefing, Nigel Clough revealed why he was so keen to make Aidy White his first Blades signing.

Versatile White, 23, joined the Blades on loan this week, agreeing a switch from Leeds United until January.

Clough, who attempted to sign White for former club Derby County, said: "Aidy gives us options and quality down the left, we have watched him for a number of years now and he has always impressed.
"He has a fantastic attitude and a terrific energy about his game.

"We (the coaching team) felt that area needed addressing because a lot of players have been in and out of the team in the left-back position. Matt Hill was excellent defensively against Crewe, so we will see how things develop ahead of the weekend in that regard.

"Aidy has had a tough time at Leeds of late but this is a great chance for him to impress and stake a claim."

White is available for Saturday's visit to Shrewsbury Town.

The Yorkshire-born player came through the youth system at Elland Road, having originally joined the Whites in 2002. He has made 100 league appearances for the club and had loan spells at Oldham Athletic.
