Taking responsibility

2 October 2013

Neill Collins insists the responsibility of improving the Blades fortunes rests with the players.

On Friday night Crawley Town provide the opposition at Bramall Lane and Collins is demanding a positive performance, despite United entering the game on the back of six League One defeats.

The experienced defender is remaining upbeat and is confident the Blades will soon rise up the table: "I am not saying six losses on the bounce is acceptable because it isn't, especially for a club like Sheffield United. But we have to focus on influencing the future, starting with our next game.

"We have proved in most games this season that we aren't far away from being a winning side, but ultimately once we are on the field it becomes the players' responsibility to make sure we are successful.

"We know Crawley will be another tough test, they proved their credentials last season, but come 7.45pm on Friday it really is down to us (the players) to give our tremendous supporters something to shout about."
