Stern test awaits

4 October 2013

David Weir is predicting a 'stern test' against Richie Barker's Crawley Town on Friday night, but he is confident his side can end a six-game losing run.

Looking ahead to the clash with the Red Devils from Sussex, Weir is hoping for a similar outcome to United's last Friday night fixture on home soil.

He said: "I've seen Crawley on DVD and watched them with my own eyes. They are a very good team with some talented players, especially in wide areas.

"They've been together and had a settled team for quite a while now and are reaping the benefits of that. They are on a good run, doing exceptionally well and so will provide us with a stern test. Hopefully, though, it is one we can pass."

The Gaffer added: "We're looking forward to the game. It's under the floodlights and it's always a special atmosphere at Bramall Lane when that's the case.

"I don't know why but if you ask most players, the matches they always remember the most are night fixtures

"Hopefully we'll get a good crowd and start their weekend off with three vital points and a much needed victory."
