Rallying call

4 October 2013

Tony McMahon is adamant United are much better than the league table suggests at the present time.

Speaking ahead of Friday's clash with Crawley Town, the experienced defender delivered something of a rallying call to his team-mates and supporters.

He remarked: "All the lads remain confident that we are just one win away from going on a run and those elusive three points are our sole focus at the minute, the sooner we get them the better.

"Apart from the results, personally I am enjoying the way we are playing because that is the way I was brought up to play football.

"I honestly believe we have the best squad in the division and that is meant with no disrespect to other teams in League One."

McMahon insisted the Blades won't be involved in a relegation fight, instead he feels a promotion push remains a realistic ambition, adding:

"The season is still early enough to turn things around. In fact I still believe we can win the league, people might think I am stupid for saying that, but, as I have said for the last couple of weeks, when it does click not many teams will be able to stop us.

"I said to the Gaffer this week that I believe someone in the near future is going to be on the end of a good hiding."
