Nigel Clough was full of praise for the support the Blades received from the terraces as his first game in charge at Bramall Lane ended in a comfortable 3-1 victory over Crewe Alexandra.
Speaking after a brace from Harry Maguire and Ryan Flynn's first of the season, Clough said:
"Our supporters have the ability to real make the difference and lift the team during a game. They probably don't realise just how important they are when the lads hear that roar when we are under a bit of pressure."
The Gaffer, who revealed Febian Brandy missed out through illness against the Alex, is confident United's strikers are starting to find their best form.
He added: "Febian (Brandy) had a sickness bug on Friday and after seeing the doctor was very dehydrated, so he wasn't worth risking.
"Lyle (Taylor) was shattered at the end but he ran his socks off and put in a very committed shift for the team.
"Lyle is getting better all the time, Marlon (King) is continuing to build up his match fitness, as is Shaun (Miller), who again looked sharp."
