Ahead of the United's trip to Ashton Gate on Saturday, Neill Collins believes both the Blades and the Robins will soon start climbing the League One table.
It is 19th versus 23rd in the West Country, but Collins is sure both teams will enjoy improved results in the weeks ahead.
Speaking to the media ahead of the clash with Sean O'Driscoll's City, the experienced defender said: "Given the expectation level at both clubs, it is fair to say that both teams are at the wrong end of the table.
"We are now in our third season in League One and the squad has been forced to undergo various transitions, but now is the time in the weeks leading up to Christmas where we really need to start racking up points and going on an unbeaten run.
"Bristol City came down from the Championship last season and will no doubt still have a wage bill that reflects that, so they will be understandably doubly disappointed to have struggled to date.
"But with the quality of players they have at their disposal, especially attacking options, I am sure like ourselves they will soon start to string a run of results together and climb away from the relegation zone.
"Nothing will be won or lost at the weekend but for us, with three games in a week, we are certainly hopeful of a positive result, especially having lost our last two league fixtures."
Neill Collins is 25/1 to be the first goalscorer this weekend with Sky Bet and if you open an account and deposit before the end of November, the Blades will get a £10 bonus. Join Now!
