Lappin loan extended

4 November 2013

The Blades have extended the loan of Simon Lappin.

The Cardiff City utility player will now stay at Bramall Lane until 1st January 2014.

Despite being signed by previous boss David Weir, Lappin has impressed new chief, Nigel Clough, who commented: "Simon is staying with us and we're pleased about that because he's done well since we've come in.

"Simon is technically very sound which is good. I know that, despite being seen as a defender, he probably prefers to play further forward which is where we've used him.

"Simon has got good experience and that's always beneficial too."

Lappin played in a central midfield role alongside Michael Doyle at Shrewsbury Town on Saturday and has now made five starts in a Blades shirt.
