Diego De Girolamo is expected to return to training before the end of the year, says boss Nigel Clough.
Speaking at his weekly pre-match press conference, the Gaffer revealed that the 18-year-old homegrown talent is progressing well as he bids to make a return to action following a serious knee injury sustained whilst away with Italy's U18s earlier this year.
Clough commented: "Diego has been undergoing tests throughout the week in terms of assessing his strength and we are confident that he will be back on the training pitch in December.
"It will be like a new signing for us and we are excited about seeing Diego, because everyone at the club speaks very positively about him.
"We are all looking forward to seeing what he is capable of, but it remains our priority not to rush him back too soon."
Diego burst on to the scene last season, making three substitute appearances before injury curtailed his progress.
