Boss praise for Harry

28 November 2013

Nigel Clough believes Harry Maguire will go on to be 'a very, very good centre-half in the future'.

Blades chief Clough says the 20-year-old will only improve with first-team experience, but admits hardwork and a willingness to learn behind the scenes will also aid his development.

Maguire missed Tuesday's 1-1 draw with Walsall due to suspension, but the Gaffer remarked: "Before we took over we had heard a lot about how good Harry was and we had watched him from a far.

"But having worked at close quarters with him recently we can see that he has all the attributes to be a very, very good centre-half in the future.

"Harry needs to show a bit more aggression at times, but Chris Morgan will teach him that side of defending, I am sure.

"As a centre-half at the top level you have to be able to handle yourself both mentally and physically, often you need a nasty streak.

"We are a quiet back five, I suppose, but we have a young goalkeeper and centre-half and they are constantly learning and have a real desire to do so."

Maguire is available again for Saturday's Sky Bet League One encounter at Leyton Orient.
