Jose Baxter believes he is edging ever closer to making a first-team return.
Speaking after featuring for the U21s in a victory over Coventry City at Worksop Town on Monday, the 21-year-old remarked: "At the moment, I am just working hard on the training pitch and doing my best when given the opportunity in the first-team or for the U21s.
"I got another hour under my belt against Coventry and after a recent injury, I am feeling sharp again.
"Despite our position in the league, confidence within the dressing room remains high and we have plenty of ability in the squad to get us out of the relegation zone and beyond."
Looking back at Saturday's defeat at Bramall Lane, Baxter, who was introduced as a substitute, added: "In the end, the result and second-half performance against Gillingham was bitterly disappointing.
"When we equalised I honestly thought there would only be one winner, but we gave away a poor goal at the beginning of the second-half and never really recovered.
"Both goals were freaks in some respects and avoidable in others. We really need to defend better as a team and not give chances away like we did at the weekend."
