Ready to hit the road

11 March 2013

Tony McMahon is backing the Blades to continue their recent good form as United prepare to hit the road for successive away matches this week.

Looking back at Saturday's goalless draw with Karl Robinson's MK Dons, McMahon felt the Blades could have nicked all three points, but says trips to Crewe and Stevenage hold no fears.

The right-back, who has featured in all of the recent shutouts, commented: "As defender we always want to keep clean sheets, so to keep six on the bounce is crucial because we will always create chances at the other end.

"The pitch was heavy, but we slightly edged a pretty even contest and had the better of the chances. It was always going to be a close game and one goal would have settled it, but unfortunately we couldn't capitalise.

"Perhaps we could have had a couple of penalties, the one when Flynny went through, and the referee missed a handball too.

"It is another point on the board, though, and now we move on to two tough away matches, but we are confident of getting a couple of positive results."
