Chris Morgan gave an honest assessment of his team's performance following the U21s defeat at Wigan Athletic on Tuesday afternoon.
Aaron Barry drew the Blades level early in the second half, but Rakish Bingham netted 13 minutes from time to condemn United to a 2-1 defeat at Robin Park Arena.
Speaking afterwards, Morgan commented: "We were very poor in the first-half; it wasn't good enough and fell well short of the standards we set ourselves.
"The lads were told exactly that at half-time and we responded as I would have expected.
"For long periods in the second half we dominated the game, but it was frustrating to lose to such a sloppy goal.
"We got too carried away chasing a winner and got caught with a simple long ball forward that we just haven't dealt with properly.
"On reflection it was definitely a game of two halves, although decisions didn't go our way again, Ben (Whiteman) wasn't offside and there wasn't a foul on the goalkeeper for the second one that was disallowed."
Meanwhile, the fixture with Leeds United scheduled to be played at Bramall Lane on Tuesday 9th April, will now be played at the Academy, owing to the first team being in action against Crawley Town that night. Kick-off at Shirecliffe will be 1pm.
