Kevin McDonald is confident that his club form can earn him international recognition.
The Scotsman, who has represented his country in the past, says it would be a dream come true to make the grade at senior level.
McDonald says he remains solely focused on his performances for the Blades, as the rest should take care of itself.
He said: "I would love to play for my country again. I have played a good number of times at youth levels and for the U21s.
"I have got to perform consistently and strive to continue to improve because the new manager will be looking at different options. I want to concentrate on my club form and hopefully that is enough to impress Gordon Strachan.
"Sometimes people think you only get a call up if you are playing in the Premiership or Championship, but if you are performing you should be in with a shout.
"I just hope the management team with Scotland are monitoring players currently in League One, although ideally I will be playing in the Championship next season if we can secure promotion."
