Gaffer demands positive response

17 March 2013

Danny Wilson says he is focusing on getting a positive response from his players after Saturday's disappointing 4-0 defeat at Stevenage.

Speaking of the Blades performance, the Gaffer gave an open and honest account of his team's shortcomings and is demanding a radical response when Brentford provide the opposition in front of the Sky cameras next week.

United's surprise reversal at the Lamex saw the Blades drop to third place in League One after the Bees netted a late winner against Preston at Griffin Park.

Wilson commented: "We have saved up all our mistakes for one game and defensively we were second best throughout.

"All four goals we conceded are very poor from our perspective because we have given the opposition to much time on the ball.

"Stevenage will think they thoroughly deserved their four goals and the win but that performance from us wasn't good enough and mistakes have cost us the game, that is taking nothing away from Stevenage.

"These results and performances can happen though, what is important is how we respond, that is what will give us the best tonic.

"We have a fantastic game against Brentford at Bramall Lane to prepare for now and we know we must improve drastically.

"It is fair to say everyone is annoyed and frustrated at the manner of the defeat, we haven't been completely outplayed, we have contributed heavily to our own downfall and that is particularly disappointing."
