Thick and fast

19 June 2013

The release of the fixtures on Wednesday morning has helped build the excitement for Blades chief David Weir.

The Scot, who was appointed United's new permanent manager earlier this month, has seen the League One schedule and that Bramall Lane will host fixtures on the first and final days of the campaign.

"I'm genuinely excited about things getting underway. I'm looking forward to working hard and working together," said Weir.

"It's a long season and the games come thick and fast at this level - that's something we must be ready to cope with and thrive on.

"We play everyone twice. So, in that regard, the only thing I'm really concerned about is making sure we are properly prepared for each match.

"We'll do our homework on the opposition and always pay them the respect they deserve and warrant but the focus will always be on us, trying to make sure we fulfill our potential and achieve the standards to which we aspire."

United open with an home encounter against Notts County and the regular season concludes with Coventry City visiting S2.

Fixtures are subject to change but see http://www.sufc.co.uk/fixtures-results/fixtures-list/ for the complete list.
