Skipper Michael Doyle is looking forward to pre-season training kicking off this week with David Weir in the Blades hot seat.
The duo met when Weir spent time on trial at Bramall Lane in October 2012 before the Scotsman moved into coaching at Everton.
Doyle commented: "As soon as he arrived you could tell why he'd been able to perform at the very highest level into his 40s. David was very, very professional. Very dedicated and serious about his profession, he was always in the gym and making sure he stayed in shape.
"The attention to detail was there, that's for sure, and we were all disappointed when he left because he'd have been a brilliant addition for us at the time.
"David won't have changed now he's a manager. He'll still demand the same from himself and from those around him - he's someone who leads by example."
Doyle added: "We had a massive disappointment and now we all just want to get that out of our system and get on with things.
"You never forget but we want to put it behind us in a positive manner. That's why I'm really looking forward now to getting back."
