David Weir is aware of the budget he has to work within at Bramall Lane this season.
The Blades chief arrives as the club look towards another promotion push, although Chief Executive Julian Winter has announced that the playing budget for the 2013-14 campaign is reduced from last term.
"I'm aware of the situation, it has been made clear about where we are, it has not been hidden from me," Weir confirmed.
The former Everton coach, however, is not perturbed and remains upbeat as he begins his reign in the S2 hot seat.
He adds: "There has got to be a degree of realism, the figures have decreased but that is not unusual. I suspect that outside the Premiership, that is the case for a lot of clubs.
"It is a case of managing the situation and my aim is to utilise my experiences and contacts the best I can to maximise what is available to us."
The Blades return to pre-season training this week ahead of the programme of friendlies, which begins in Scotland in early July.
