Sean bids to become a regular

3 July 2013

Sean McGinty is confident his versatility can be invaluable to United in the forthcoming League One campaign.

The former Manchester United defender, who can operate at centre-back or left-back, signed a two-year deal last week and is now looking forward to the forthcoming trip to Scotland.

McGinty who played for Tranmere against the Blades last season remarked: "This is a new chapter and a new start in my career and I honestly can't wait to get started. Pre-season is underway and we have a month until the competitive action begins so we must concentrate on performing well in the friendlies.

"I have come here to play football, but as a youngster you have to work hard and earn the right to be in and around the matchday squad. The next few weeks will be about sheer hard work and showing the manager exactly what I am capable of on the field.

"I want to become a regular for Sheffield United that is my aim. I am versatile and that always helps these days."

He added: "I defend first and foremost, but with my power and size I can always try and offer something going forward.

"The manager is pleased to have signed me, now I have to repay the faith the club have shown in me."
