Kevin McDonald is in good spirits in United's Scottish training camp.
In his homeland, McDonald and his team-mates have been working out in gloriously hot conditions - including during Monday's visit to Murray Park, the training base of Glasgow Rangers.
"There's not been a cloud in the sky and it seems hotter than last season's pre-season in Malta," McDonald joked exclusively on BladesPlayer.
"The lads are complaining it has been too hot but we're enjoying the training sessions because it is all about football. We are putting the work in and having a lot of fun - I was also in the winning team on Monday so that helps!"
That is more than can be said about his only other previous visit to Murray Park. He adds: "It was a youth team game and we lost about 5-0 way back when, but the training ground is a nice set up and we're delighted we have had the chance to train there, no doubt through the Gaffer's contacts."
In the two pre-season fixtures to date McDonald has played in an advanced role in front of the central midfielders, a position he is enjoying.
"When you get the ball in those areas between the midfield and strikers you get the time to influence the game. It is different but I'm giving it my best shot and hopefully it is something that will work out."
