Homegrown youngster Callum McFadzean is keen to impress the new management team and be part of David Weir's thinking for the start of the new campaign.
The 19-year-old, who scored his first senior goal in the play-off victory over Yeovil, is currently in Scotland as part of United's three-match pre-season tour.
He has featured in the games against Greenock Morton and Cowdenbeath and is likely to play in Wednesday night's encounter at Raith Rovers.
"Everyone is starting with a clean slate under the new Gaffer and to be honest he has brought a fresh approach," said Callum.
"The training and banter up here have been good - it is something different being away from home for a long period of time.
"Like all the lads I have got to prove myself to him and I am happy to play wherever he wants me to if it means I am playing. Hopefully I can do well in the remaining pre-season games to stake a claim for a starting berth against Notts County."
