Boss encouraged by striking options

29 July 2013

David Weir is encouraged to see his strikers amongst the goals in pre-season.

Both Chris Porter and Lyle Taylor netted in Friday's 2-2 draw with Atromitos, leaving Weir with a selection headache ahead of Friday night's seasonal opener against Notts County.

The Blades boss remarked: "Goalscorers live and die by the number of times they put the ball in the back of the net.

"So to see two of our strikers do that is, from our perspective, superb. It doesn't matter what the game is. Pre-season or not. They'll both be full of confidence come Friday.

"Lyle hasn't played a lot of football for us and scored twice. Chris has been in a rich vein of form throughout the summer and working hard too.

"They've both given me a lot to think about, which is exactly what I want. I want selection headaches throughout the season because if that is the case then we will be moving in the right direction."

Friday's match is a Category B fixture with tickets priced from £18 adults, £14 concessions, £9 juniors.

Tickets can be purchased in person at the Ticket Office, over the telephone on 0871 995 1889 or securely online.
