Danny Wilson and his coaching staff will adapt the way the Blades play to counter the testing winter conditions.
The United chief was disappointed with Saturday's defeat to Yeovil.
"We were indecisive as a team and although I don't want to make excuses, the elements are making the pitch very testing," Wilson said. "We struggled to cope against Hartlepool and it hampered us again at the weekend. It makes it a slower game and that doesn't suit us.
"We have to adapt better in the future if the pitch isn't conducive to how we want to play, we can be fighting the pitch and the opponents. It is a really bobbly surface and it slows us down considerably, I think it levels out a contest.
"It isn't anything to do with the groundstaff, it is simply down to the elements and the fact that the stadium makes the pitch enclosed."
Wilson added: "Yeovil pressed us to death for 90 minutes, so they deserve plenty of credit. We have to make the pitch our friend and not our enemy as we are doing at the moment.
"We are getting caught out when we are trying to play, so we will have to get back to the drawing board, although the alternative won't be pretty.
"We might have to look at our selection if we change our style, but hopefully it will be better in three weeks time when we next play at home."
