Chris Morgan is hoping that United's win at Greenhous Meadow on Saturday proves to be the catalyst in the quest for promotion.
The first team coach said: "We needed Saturday's win at Shrewsbury and now we must really kick on.
"We were obviously disappointed after the Coventry result but, as we often have, we bounced back and thoroughly deserved the victory at the weekend.
Looking ahead to Tuesday's rearranged clash at Gigg Lane, Morgan continued:
"The lads are desperate for the games to keep coming and now we move on to face Bury, who have been in excellent form of late.
"It won't be easy and Kevin (Blackwell) will be doubly determined to get one over us, but we are confident of going there and getting another positive result.
"Kevin is a good coach and an organised manager. He plays a certain style to suit the players at his disposal and seems to have been getting a positive reaction in recent weeks.
"Bury will come into the game on a high having twice come from behind to get a point at Brentford on Saturday, so it will be a good game.
"We never underestimate anybody in this division and that is because we have the right attitude and a real professionalism in our work.
"The Gaffer instills that in everyone, but the players are experienced enough to know the challenge that lies ahead if we are to be successful this season."
