Let's do it for the fans

28 December 2013

Jose Baxter is urging his team-mates to sign off 2013 in style against Tranmere Rovers on Sunday.

Baxter, who has netted three goals in four starts, remains convinced United are moving in the right direction under Nigel Clough, but says a win at the weekend would be for the Blades loyal supporters.

The former Everton trainee said: "Tranmere are another team in and around us, so we know three points would see us move up the table.

"But it won't be easy, they had a good win at Shrewsbury on Boxing Day and will come here determined to build on those three points.

"Our supporters have been fantastic all season though, even when things haven't been great they have stuck by us and it would mean a lot to the lads to end 2013 on a high note as a reward to their loyalty.

"We are seven games undefeated ahead of the fixture so that proves the manager and his staff have got us moving in the right direction.

"They have been fantastic with me and I am delighted to be repaying them with a few goals, although I would take a win over another goal on Sunday."
