Gaffer set for Saddlers test

31 December 2013

Nigel Clough is optimistic the Blades can pick up in 2014, where they left off in 2013.

United enter the New Year unbeaten in eight matches, collecting 13 points from the last 21 available in League One and Clough is keen to continue that form through the month of January.

Speaking ahead of the trip to the Banks's Stadium, the Gaffer believes it will be a tough, but winnable clash against the Saddlers:

"We go to Walsall expecting a difficult game. They have a settled side, have a certain way of playing and are tough to beat on their own patch.

"But we will go there and have a real good go at them, why shouldn't we on the back of eight games unbeaten, we believe we are playing well enough to beat anyone if we are at our best.

"The clash against Walsall at Bramall Lane in November was an entertaining fixture and one I still believe we should have won.

"On the night we combated their threats well and played some decent football ourselves, more of the same on Wednesday should see us get a favourable result, ahead of the cup tie at Aston Villa on Saturday."
