Ahead of Saturday's League One clash with Swindon Town at Bramall Lane, boss Nigel Clough has called for his troops to remain focused.
United enter the weekend one place above the relegation zone on goal difference and just five points off mid table.
The clash against Mark Cooper's Robins begins a run of four games in 15 days for United and Clough knows it could be a season-defining period.
The Gaffer remarked: "We are out of the relegation zone on goal difference, so although there is a clutch of teams within touching distance ahead of us, we certainly can't afford to rest on our laurels.
"The games over Christmas often set the tone for what is ahead in the New Year, so we know how important picking up points throughout the month of December will be to our chances of progressing up the table.
"We have to remain focused on the next game, which is Swindon Town and they have enjoyed a good start to the season.
"We need to remain tough to beat and our performances at Bristol City, Leyton Orient and most recently Cambridge gives us reason for optimism when we play at Bramall Lane in the weeks ahead."
