United's U18s came from behind twice to ensure a share of the spoils in their seasonal opener with Leeds United at the Redtooth Academy.
Goals from Ben Whiteman and Joel Coustrain earned the Blades a draw in what was an open contest at Shirecliffe.
The hosts started brightly with Reed coming within a whisker of breaking the deadlock, before Coustrain hit the outside of the post after beating two defenders.
But it was who Leeds opened the scoring midway through the first-half, after the Blades failed to clear the loose ball and through a number of bodies the ball found its way past Eastwood from the edge of the area.
The visitors could have gone in at the break with a greater advantage but failed to capitalise on their attacking threats down the right.
The second-half saw chances exchanged at both ends, before WHITEMAN restored parity, heading home a Reed corner from eight yards out.
Leeds regained their advantage moments later from an inviting cross across goal and they should have made it three from the restart, only for Eastwood to keep the Blades in the game.
United got a foothold in the game as the second period progressed and netted a leveller five minutes from time. COUSTRAIN intercepted a back pass, rounded the goalkeeper and kept his composure to finish from a tight angle.
There was still time for Cockerline to come close to snatching a winner in injury-time. He connected well with Paling's cross but his shot went over from 15 yards out.
Coach Travis Binnion gave his thoughts on the entertaining stalemate: "We started brightly and had lots of corners and set-pieces in the first 15 minutes.
"We have to take our opportunities when we have the momentum and be stronger as a team both physically and mentally.
"In fairness a draw was probably a fair result and on the balance of play the lads deserved a point."
