David Weir was delighted to see his team kick-off the Football League season with a deserved three points on Friday night.
Speaking after goals from Kevin McDonald and Harry Maguire paved the way for a 2-1 success over ten-man Notts County at Bramall Lane, the new Blades boss was full of praise for the players:
"I don't know whether it was enjoyable during the game, but it is certainly nice to be reflecting on three points now.
"The sending off changed the game and put a bit more pressure on us, but we handled it well, especially in the first-half.
"With Notts County equalising on the hour it gave us another challenge but I thought we were patient throughout and handled the expectation of going on and winning the game."
Weir added: "We learnt a lot on the night, we were asked a few questions and we answered them well.
"We kept passing and moving, creating chances and I thought the signs were very positive.
"We have worked hard in pre-season so we expect the players to perform to that level, but the way we kept the ball in particular was very encouraging."
