Home sweet home

15 August 2013

David Weir has outlined the importance of making Bramall Lane a fortress this season, speaking ahead of the weekend's clash with Colchester United at S2.

United's progress in League One was hampered last season by too many draws and home soil and Weir appreciates the big expectation of winning matches at the Lane.

He remarked: "The home form is our bread and butter and it will be crucial to our chances of being successful. You have to capitalise on home advantage and all successful clubs rack up the points on their own patch.

"If you play well, do the right things and remain patient throughout, normally the points start adding up at home and that is the message we are giving the players.

"We have spoken to the lads about making sure our application is right from the first minute to the last, because if it is, coupled with the tremendous support we receive, then Bramall Lane should be a very hard place for visiting teams to come to."
