Chris Morgan heaped praise on the players following Saturday's crucial 2-0 win over Swindon Town at Bramall Lane.
The win, in Morgan's first game in charge since the departure of Danny Wilson on Wednesday night, keeps the Blades firmly in the race for automatic promotion.
Speaking afterwards, Morgan said he couldn't have asked for a more dominant display.
He commented: "All we have spoken about since Thursday was putting a performance in and believing in ourselves.
"We wanted the lads to relax, express themselves offensive and do what comes naturally.
"This result was down to determination, desire and effort, to a man they were fantastic.
"If you have that desire to be better than your opponent, you will never go far wrong.
"I want the lads to enjoy the result, but after Saturday night, we must focus on Brentford.
Morgan reserved special for the first-half showing, which saw the Blades dictate proceedings.
He added: "First-half in particular Swindon didn't know what had hit them, I never exaggerate but at the break we could have been three or four up.
"I told the players at half-time not to get carried away and to be fair Swindon put us on the back foot, but what pleased me was as a group we stayed strong.
"We got back hold of the game and deservedly got the second goal to give ourselves that cushion."
