Danny Wilson is pleasantly surprised to have been able to recruit Paul Gallagher on a one-month loan deal from Leicester City.
Gallagher, who started his career with Blackburn Rovers, has spent the majority of his career in the Championship and is a fully capped Scotland international.
On the versatility the 28-year-old offers, the Blades boss commented: "Paul is flexible in his approach and subsequently he helps in a number of roles, through his versatility.
"At home we need people who can pick pockets and not be predictable and he offers us another option or two.
"He is hungry to play and I was impressed from the moment I spoke to him, you can tell by the way he spoke and his body language that he simply wants to play football.
"If we can channel all his enthusiasm in the right way he can have a big impact on us in the next month."
Wilson says United's fantastic support and the stature of the club helped convince the Glasgow born-forward that South Yorkshire was a suitable temporary home:
"Sheffield United has good pulling power because of the support we receive both home and away and when people see Bramall Lane it encourages them to move here
"The key reasons Paul will have chosen to come here is to play in front of big crowds and in a team that should do well.
"We have got some momentum from our start to the season and with Paul onboard we are confident of maintaining that in the weeks to come."
