Dave Kitson is poised to make a telling contribution at Bramall Lane, according to boss Danny Wilson.
The experienced marksman penned a short-term deal until the end of 2012 on deadline day and the United manager is delighted to have him on board:
"Dave has got an excellent record of goals to games throughout his career and he will be particularly important given we have several young strikers at the football club.
"He had still got a real desire and hunger to play and his experience can do no harm to the squad."
Wilson added: "We believe and he feels there is still plenty he can offer. Whether he is fit enough at the moment is arguable but he can offer so much when he gets up to speed.
"He is a terrific outlet and also has the ability to link play together. I believe our style of play enticed him to make this move and we feel we can get the best out of his game.
"He won't be considered for Saturday, but he should be in contention thereafter."
