Danny Wilson was delighted to see his team overcome a dogged Hartlepool outfit and in the process beat the elements in the North-East on Tuesday night.
The boss was also pleased to see both goals in the 2-1 success at Victoria Park come via crosses from the flanks, an area he has been stressing the importance of to his players:
"We have been telling the boys to play with width and for the first goal it was a tremendous ball in from Tony (McMahon). Dave (Kitson) is a major threat and whipping balls into the box plays to his main strength, especially against a pretty inexperienced back four.
"For the second goal it again came from good work in wide areas and Paul (Gallagher) nips in at the back post with a timely strike."
The Gaffer then reserved a special word for his goalkeeper Mark Howard: "He is getting better and better and his confidence is growing the more games he plays.
"Mark has great positioning and excellent distribution, but most importantly his concentration levels are first class."
