Danny Wilson was delighted with Shaun Miller's Johnstone Paint Trophy brace at Notts County, but insists he wasn't surprised.
Miller, starting his first game since early August, netted his first goals in United colours in the 4-1 victory at Meadow Lane but Wilson believes the best is yet to come from the man he signed from Crewe Alexandra in the summer.
Of the 25-year-old striker, Wilson commented: "Shaun (Miller) is a goalscorer we know that, but it is the other components of his game we want him to brush up.
"Everybody has areas in which they can improve and that isn't just aimed at the youngsters, Shaun comes into that category too.
"He will be striving for some consistency, we don't want that type of performance to be a one-off, and we need people to contribute every week when selected."
The Gaffer continued by saying his forwards must bring more than just goals to the team:
"We know strikers aren't going to score every game, but we need them to contribute to the performance of the team at different times.
"If we aren't getting the opportunities for them to score goals they have to work hard in other areas.
"Of course it is tempting to stick with Shaun, but we need to take into account the opposition and put together a team that is most likely to get the win we want at Preston.
"Nick (Blackman) and Dave (Kitson) are both in excellent form so we will consider our options ahead of the weekend."
