Managing expectations

23 October 2012

Danny Wilson believes United's attacking intent could leave us short defensively but insists it is a risk he is prepared to take.

The Gaffer thinks the expectation that sits on his side's shoulders often means his players are forced into going for broke when many team's would happily take a point.

On how his side has acquitted themselves to date in defensive areas, Wilson commented: "I am fairly satisfied with the way we have defended this season, for the most part we have been excellent.

"What you have to remember is the emphasis is often on us to win a game, meaning we have to take chances at the back and push people forward.

"The expectation level is that high we have to do what most teams wouldn't when it comes to taking risks to win matches.

"We are going to have games where we give a lot of chances to the opposition, but of late we have been fantastic.

"We have tweaked several things from last season but remain an attacking force, we lost a lot of quality in the summer and that has changed the dynamics of the team."
